1/1/2023 0 Comments Wmma 5 freeBoot Camp is a unique project-based program that provides an exposure level curriculum and a hands-on approach to several of the industry’s fundamental wood processing applications, and the machinery used in those manufacturing processes. WMIA sponsors the Wood Technology Industry Institute (WTII) Boot Camp, held twice each year at Pittsburg State University in Kansas. WMIA members can register participants at significantly discounted rates. Taught by Pittsburg State University mechatronics faculty, the 2-1/2-day session covered the following topics: Basic Electricity Schematics: Circuit Devices and Symbols Schematics: Understanding Schematics Relays, Contractors, and Motor Starters Circuit Protection Troubleshooting 101 Electric Power Induction Motors Introduction to PLCs HMI and SCADA Interfacing DC, Servo, and Stepper Motors Industrial Networks Power Quality and Variable Frequency Drives. WMIA and the Wood Technology Industry Institute (WTII) launched a training program for service technicians focused on electrical and mechatronics-related issues, as well as some safety and customer service tips. Distributor members can register all of their company personnel for free and receive 5 free Guest Passes to invite top customers for free registration to the show. Qualified distributor personnel are allowed access to the exhibit floor a day before the show opens and during all exhibitor hours on show days. A block of hotel rooms within the IWF housing block is reserved just for Qualified Distributors. IWF is held even years in Atlanta, Georgia, and it is part of the Association’s mission to keep members and their customers informed about the latest advances in the international and domestic marketplace. WMIA members receive a 20 percent discount on exhibit booth space at IWF. WMIA is a co-owner of the biennial International Woodworking Fair (IWF), the largest woodworking machinery and supply show in North America, and the second largest in the world. WMIA members, their spouses, and family members receive discounted registration rates. WIC offers business development, networking, education, and the discussion of industry-wide issues. This “One Industry Conference,” of which WMIA is a co-sponsor with WMMA, brings together members of both associations as well as other allied wood industry associations.
